Print Club Championship Report

11th March 2012

Best Print: ‘Kingfisher Landing with Prey’ by Kevin Elsby of Norfolk PG
What a difference a month can make weather-wise. There was beautiful warm, sunny conditions for this year’s Print Club Championship held for the first time at the Fulbourn Centre, Fulbourn near Cambridge.  Members were able to sit outside for their tea/coffee and lunch and when inside they were treated to wonderful print images from across the Federation.

Twenty-five clubs took part meaning we saw 375 in Round One and a further 100 in Round Two.  Congratulations to the top ten clubs who made it through to Round Two. This year we changed the way we project the print images onto a screen for the spectators to see from video capture to that of remote capture on a digital SLR (a computer fired the camera’s shutter) which is then projected. The results were excellent and my special thanks go to Ian Wilson of Cambridge CC for working out how to do it accurately and then administering it on the day.

The judges were Don Byatt, Paul Keene and John Wigmore.  Their personal selections were:

Don Byatt: ‘Tackled’ by Jim Price of Beyond Group

Paul Keene: ‘Common Cuckoos Fighting’ by Richard Nicoll of Ely PC

John Wigmore: ‘Surfing Up A Storm’ by Jeanette Duncan of Norfolk PG
The top Print club, taking home the Ken Ratley trophy was Beyond Group, 2nd was Norfolk PG, 3rd was Peterborough PS and 4th was Cambridge CC.  The four clubs will represent the EAF at Deeside College, Connah’s Quay in North Wales on 27th October 2012.   A full set of results is on the Downloadable Docs page.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make the day a success.

EAF Competition Secretary
