Photography in Public

... and its relation to the Terrorism Act 2000

The Metropolitan Police have published an article on this subject on their website at http://www.met.police.uk/about/photography.htm

It states inter alia (a) Members of the public and the media do not need a permit to film or photograph in public places and police have no power to stop them filming or photographing incidents or police personnel, and (b) Officers do not have the power to delete digital images or destroy film at any point during a search.

It is recommend that you read it and carry a printed copy in your camera bag.
