PAGB PDI Championship, Warwick

Report by Barbie Lindsay

Hazy Days of Summer by Malcolm Bumstead

Warwick always seems to fall during extremes of weather. In the past some have struggled to get there due to floods. This year it was the hottest day of the year up to that point. It had everyone cheery from the off. 'Beyond Group' went into the competition full of hope and knowing we had a great set of images. The trouble was, so did everyone else! They started off rather harshly and the first set of scores was definitely not a taster of what was to come. The scores started to rise and it became a closely fought first round with nothing much between the clubs. We then chose our 2nd round submission carefully, trying to take note of the judges biases. It was difficult, as we didn't have any misty dreamlike shots, no Camargh Horses or Racing Dog pictures. We went into the 2nd round not so confident as before. The standard was high, every club rubber stamping the reason why they were there representing their region. We were eagerly awaiting every score and getting hotter by the minute, and not all due to the weather. Unfortunately the 'Beyond Group' were 5 points short of getting into the finals and our fellow EAF representative Cambridge, 8 points short. Never mind, the work was of an amazing standard.
