This document covers the requirements for preparing a Print Entry for the Annual Exhibition and the Print Championships. It forms part of the main rules for each event and should be read in conjunction with them.
1.1 Print Preparation
1.1.1 It is extremely important that each Entrant takes care to mount their physical prints in such a way as to present no danger to any other Entrant’s work whilst being processed through the selection and display activities.
1.1.2 This includes making a fully secure mount with no tendency to come apart when being handled. (Prints are handled with great care by the selection team – but flimsily mounted prints are likely to suffer damage with the best of intentions. This presents a risk to other peoples work which is NOT acceptable).
1.1.3 The use of Velcro fastening strips or “Gaffa Tape” is NOT acceptable.
1.1.4 There must be nothing fixed to either the front or the rear of the Print mount which causes a risk of damage or colour transfer to any other print.
1.1.5 Any Print which is deemed to present a risk of damage to others in the system will be subject to disqualification at the discretion of the Exhibition Secretary or designated Deputy.
1.1.6 Prints shall be mounted on a standard 50cm by 40cmbacking board and shall have a maximum printed area of 1500sq cm (230sq inches) – preferably framed in a bevel-cut aperture.
1.1.7 The minimum acceptable printed area is 500sq cm.
1.1.8 Flush mounted images are not acceptable.
1.1.9 Prints must have no identification marking applied to the front of the mount whatsoever. (This includes Titles).
1.1.10 Prints must have their Title, Entrant’s Name and Club Name printed clearly on the reverse of the mount – as close to the Top Left Hand Corner as practicable when viewed with the Print in the correct orientation for display.
1.1.11 Each entered Print must be supplied with a PDI copy file, matching the visual content of the print exactly, which will be used for record purposes and management of the event processes.
This file must be prepared in exactly the same way as for a PDI entry.
